Belleplain Birding Field Trip

April 24, 28, at 7:30 a.m.   

Meet at Belleplain’s Office Park  

Bert Hixon, a wildlife biologist, will take guests on a birding hike for beginners and experienced birders alike every Sunday and Wednesday from April 14 to May 19. Price is $5 per car.   

Introduction to Birding 

Thursday, April 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. 

Avalon Free Public Library, 235 32nd St. 

Join Cape May Bird Observatory’s Program Coordinator, Adehl Schwaderer, to learn the basics of bird identification. If you are just getting into birding or want to see if it’s a hobby you’d like to try, this is the presentation for you! We’ll be reviewing what details to focus on when identifying birds, as well as some common species you can see all spring and summer long! 

Spring Art Show and Exhibit 

Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. 

Wildwood Crest Arts Pavilion, 6301 Ocean Avenue. 

Official display of entries in the Wildwood Crest Crestive Arts Council’s second annual spring art competition. Theme is ‘Wildwood Boardwalk’ and submissions are due April 12. 

Annual Autism Walk 

Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m.  

Meet at the Wildwoods Convention Center 

Come join the SOAR Church for the 9th Annual Autism Awareness Walk. All proceeds from the walk go to support special education programming throughout Cape May County School Districts. Registration and check-in opens at 9 a.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center and the walk begins at 10 a.m. 

Cole the Deaf Therapy Dog 

Saturday, April 27 from 10 to 11 a.m. 

Avalon Free Public Library, 235 32nd St. 

Meet Cole and learn about his story and impact. This family event is open to all ages. Cole the Deaf Therapy Dog’s message is simple and profound: a disability is not an inability, it’s a superpower! The Team Cole Project has been helping people of all ages learn about self-empowerment, acceptance, and compassion. 

Artisan Fair at Cape May Convention Hall 

Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m  

714 Beach Ave, Cape May 

The event will be free to get into and will showcase over 40 artisans. We will also be raffling off baskets and selling hotdogs, chips and drinks. All proceeds from the event will go to the Shop Local Scholarship Fund. 

Kiwani’s Cape May 100th Anniversary Celebration  

Saturday, April 27 from 4:30 to 10 p.m. 

The Grand Hotel 

This fundraiser celebration helps support one of Cape May’s longest-running charitable organizations, whose primary mission is supporting local kids. Come out for cocktails, dinner, and dancing. $75 per.

High quality crafts and collectibles shows featuring the wares of vendors and crafters from throughout the Northeast. 

Spring Concert: Inside Broadway 

Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. 

Ocean City Public Library 

Enter “Inside Broadway” where memorable favorites by composers such as Berlin, Jerry Hermann and Stephen Schwartz are interspersed with forgotten Broadway gems. Delight in humorous Broadway musical tidbits interpreted by the comedic vocal acrobatics of Jodi Rose. 

Spring Concert: Roots of Black Music in America  

Wildwood Crest Library on Tuesday, April 30 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.  

Ocean City Public Library on Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m.  

Producer, songwriter, teacher, and troubadour Karlus Trapp presents his delightful, educational and entertaining presentation “The Roots of Black Music in America.” It is a 100 year journey back through time, and offers a fresh perspective through song, story, and history to learn about the music of America’s black musical giants. Hear Scott Joplin during the birth of Ragtime. Dance to the Charleston in the 1920’s. Play air guitar with Chuck Berry or sing along with the Supremes in the 60’s in the motor city. 

Cape May County Spring Jamboree 

Thursday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Avalon Community Center, 30th Street and the Beach 

There will be music, dancing, and a fabulous free lunch. Students from Wildwood Catholic High School will assist the staff with serving lunch. They have also been known to perform and dance with our seniors.
